Drei Frösche auf zwei Rümpfen

Music performance for the Seawoman Parade 23 in Hamburg
with Sven Otte and Sophia Leitenmayer

Starting in 2018 the dikes in Wilhelmsburg got hightend, to match rising ocean levels and the deepening of the Elbe river for economic growth. Being awarded as green European capital in 2011, the deepening however became an ecological catastrophe and an economic failure. The idea of simply displacing tons of mud to the ocean ultimately backfired, when the river returned to its former depth in less than a year.

In the course of the re-siltation of the Elbe river the cooling system of the Elbphilharmonie also got covered completely and has been uncovered regularly since then.

Our performance on the catamaran “Titik Dua” took the construction report of this installation as a starting point. The ironic poeticization of this technical document draws the picture of a techno-economic utopia that cannot acknowledge its failure due to ecological resistance. Involuntarily it becomes a tragicomic Sisyphus-figure.
